Pixar Post - T.J.
Hey gang - the teaser this morning (for the upcoming trailer) revealed the first Easter Egg for Coco that we can think of (details in our post). Of course, there were some that we spotted in the Dante's Lunch short (which we'll add here later since they're part of the Coco family), but I think this may be the first from the film. Spot any? Share them below!

The sharp-eyed, Josh (PixarFreak) on Twitter spotted Nemo in the new trailer!

I apologize if this has been asked before but... Do you think John Ratzenberger will have a voice cameo in Coco? I believe Lee Unkrich wanted an entirely authentic Mexican voice cast, of which John Ratzenberger is not. What do you guys think?

Great question. Yes, Ratzenberger will definitely be in the film. We shared details of this in our latest podcast as well (in case you're interested). Lee said that although it IS an all Latin vocal cast, he couldn't be the one that would break the tradition...so he has one line in the film (kind of like Brave).

Destiny-Coco.JPG
So, a few things popped up when I saw this TV spot for Coco - is that shark-like alebrije supposed to be a whale shark and be Destiny? There are two on the table (as seen in the Every Pixar World spot at 36 seconds). Also, seeing Pepita on the table really gets me thinking...that's so eerily close to Pepita...it's almost as if Mama Imelda (Pepita is her alebrije) has sent him to the living world to spy (or keep watch on) on Miguel (or the family).

Since Alebrijes are created by living people and the designs are often new, unique and not heavily replicated, wouldn't it seem weird to have one that looks SO close to Pepita since Mama Imelda (I presume) has been dead for a long time (since she's Miguel's Great-Great-Grandmother)? Maybe I'm looking into it too much, but just wondering if the alebrijes are possibly a link to keep an eye on the living world (since the dead can only visit on Dia de los Muertos)?

Another Easter Egg spotted!! The Pixar ball can be seen in the final trailer which Pixar released today. Here's a rough screenshot - I'll post a better one later!

I should also note that several folks who have seen the film in Mexico have said that it's really easy to spot the Pizza Planet Truck when you see the film as well as a Buzz and Woody reference (which was most likely the reference to a future film since when Coco was being developed, it was scheduled ahead of Incredibles 2). I'm still thinking (total guess at this point) we'll see Buzz and Woody as piñatas (as we spotted on the shelf during a Disney Live tour of the studios from back in February).

Well, in the new clip that was released on USA Today this afternoon, you can see the Pizza Planet Truck zoom by! Wow! That's the main ones covered just from the trailers! Wonder who's driving? [smile_zpsf797a80b]

Pixar also revealed (during the Hollywood Premiere) on their Instagram Story the name of John Ratzenberger's character name — Juan Ortodoncia (which translates to Orthodontics - very interesting). We've heard rumors of what his character is, but we're not going to say that since it hasn't been shown or revealed in any of the trailers yet.

I know we commented about a Buzz and Woody Pinata above, but others also reported seeing a Mike Wazowski pinata as well! Cool!

So was the composer of the film Michael Giacchino the conductor during Ernesto's big concert??? The guy looked just like him in skeleton form! A clever easter egg if true!
