Pixar Post - T.J.
Hello all,

As you know if you've been on the forum for a while, we like to crate a topic for each film where you can pass along small news articles (or a piece of an article) which wouldn't warrant a whole topic on it's own, but is still interesting news in general.

As an example, when reading this Indie Wire article about Piper, I spotted that Piper's director, Alan Barillaro, is now an animator on The Incredibles 2. That's exciting to see and I wonder if Alan (with his experience) will be a Directing or Supervising Animator. This may line up, but only time will tell.

Inside Wire Article wrote: But “Piper” was also very personal story for Barillaro (currently an animator on “The Incredibles II”)

This means that the 2nd Incredibles will be very a emotional story from beginning to end, seeing as how adorable the Piper short was, I wouldn't put it past them to show off baby Violet or Dash in a similar idea as cameos.

This past weekend, Brad Bird was honored by receiving the Art Directors Guild Prestigious Cinematic Imagery Award and before the event he chatted with Indie Wire about a few things...one of them being, The Incredibles 2. he said,

Indie Wire wrote: Bird’s next film, “The Incredibles 2” finds him returning to a world for the first time in his career. “At the end of a film, you leave knowing how to make that film,” Bird told IndieWire, explaining that this upcoming sequel has a different story that brings with it different challenges. On the production design side, he’ll have help from longtime collaborator Ralph Eggleston. “He helped us a lot on ‘Incredibles’ and he worked on the first film I ever did, ‘Family Dog,’ so it’s really a great pleasure to have him,” Bird said. “I think you’re going to be pretty astounded by what he does.”
I was excited to hear that Ralph will be working with Brad as I absolutely love his artistic style and visual storytelling mind that Ralph brings. This is sure to be a great continued collaboration.

In a video interview from Heyuguys.com at the BAFTA's this last weekend, John Lasseter mentioned a quick note about The Incredibles 2. He said that the film was the one he's been waiting on as well as fans and then went on to note, "I'm a big fan of it - I helped make it, but I'm a big fan of it!"

Although it's nothing major, but it's another tiny piece of the puzzle that John is helping and involved as well (not that it's a surprise to hear that though). John's note about The Incredibles 2 starts at 3:23 into the video and then there's a brief mention of Cars 3 (at 2:26) and Wreck It Ralph 2...no mention of Toy Story 4...but probably due to time constraints of the interviewer. We'll post the quote and news about Cars 3 in that Topic (found here).

Normally I don't get hyped up about things that are still waaay down the line. But in this case I might make an exception. [smile] Exciting news!

Samuel L Jackson spoke a little about his role in The Incredibles 2.

"I’ve been in the studio one day so far,” Jackson said. “One day so far, but I don’t know if that’s a dedicated recording or pre-recording, so they could start to animate against what I said. I think it’s going to be pretty awesome. Everyone’s been waiting to see, more than anything, what Jack-Jack evolved into.”

More or less, reconfirming that this sequel's story will have Jack-Jack as a major character (I picture his role being more of a side story role, similar to Violet's/Dash's roles from the first film).

I wouldn't go as far as saying it reconfirms Jack-Jack is a major character. Jackson has been repeating a similar version of that same quote for quite some time now (three years in fact) and each time he ends on the Jack-Jack note. So, no, I just think he uses it as an easy answer for the question.

I remember him doing this the day after the sequel got confirmed, but I wonder what he's trying to pull with the Jack-Jack quote anyways? (it's also the reasoning why the Jack-Jack rumors became popular during those 3 years with all the fan-theory rumors).

Granted he's the same exact guy who still thinks that his Star Wars character Mace Windu "survived" his death at the hands of the Emperor in Revenge of the Sith (and we all clearly saw him die on-screen either from the fall or getting hit by flying cars along the way, it reminds me of the Syndrome death at the end of the first Incredibles where he got his cape sucked into his own plane's engines and we all saw that happen).

Sorry about the off-topic post referencing Star Wars, just that both Mace's death and Syndrome's deaths are kind of vague (both clearly died, but some fan sources states that they survived for some reason (I can see Syndrome possibly surviving (which would explain his Facebook profile pic getting updated), but not Mace.)

That's funny about Mace in Star Wars, you're right!

Really? Suddenly I feel a bit more excited than I should be.

But still, it doesn't answer my Jack-Jack question, I'd love to know what Jackson is trying to state with the quote (because it still sounds like he wants the sequel to focus on the baby as a grown-up and that's something I really can't see happening at all).

At Cinemacon, Disney released a list of all films Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars through 2019. With it was a new Incredibles 2 logo. If this is the logo that will be used in the film's poster, trailers, and title, the word "The" has been dropped.

Seems like a smart marketing move on their part, but still no reveal of the family (probably not til D23 which is in a few months).

And sadface, was really hoping they would go with the roman numerals that the logo had (at least it would help make it a bit more distinct compared to the other "2's" instead of reusing the same numeral as the other first time sequels (sans Monsters University or Finding Dory).

As long as they don't go and call it 'Inc2dibles' or something... [Smug_zpsbec03801] [Nerd_zps76dc97d3]

In before that becomes the name for a 3rd Incredibles (if we ever get one depending on how well the sequel does.)
