With Toy Story of Terror coming out in October, what would you think about a Pixar TV series? Maybe created by Pixar Canada? If there could be one, which feature film or short films would it be about? Or would it be a brand new story with new characters?

The problem with TV specials, is that if you make too many, they get kinda dry. For example, have you seen any of the Dreamworks specials? They have a lot and they all are boring, and trying to cram useless things into the movie. I don't want Pixar to do that. I hope if they do, each is thought out and well balanced, like my hopes for Toy Story of Terror.

A TV seires would be fun though. I hope they come up with new characters instead of using old ones. If they use say the Toy Story characters, the story will get old real fast, plus it might ruin the movies. If they have new characters, then it might be good. Maybe it might be good if they use the show to extend Inside Out. Like it follows the girl, and her feelings, as she grows up!

I agree. Dreamworks has made many specials and 4 TV series, most likely with more on the way. The specials get boring and feel more like just a way to crack more jokes, whereas the TV series are entertaning and have new storlines per episode. I do hope that Toy Story of Terror isn't just like the Dreamworks specials, and it could be the start of a TV series.

Also, I was exploring this topic, and I found out that UPN and ABC had a 2D Toy Story TV series called Buzz Lightyear of Star Command.

Pixar Post - T.J.
Wow - I totally forgot about the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command TV Series. They released a direct-to-video release to kick off the 2D Buzz show and then the TV series ran for 63 episodes through 2000 and 2001. Obviously it was only mildly successful since it ran for two years, but they certainly cranked out a lot of episodes within that time!

I'm not sure about a TV series again...would it work...hmmm! Good question though! I like the idea of seeing my favorite characters some more, but as mentioned, it does run the risk of wearing out the characters, especially if it's not good!

Personally, I would prefer there not to be a TV series (with new, or old characters). If anything, I'd like it to stick to the occasional TV special. I think involving Pixar Canada in more and more ways is inevitable and will be great for Pixar overall!

But...to answer your question about a TV series though...if I had to choose, I'd probably stick with the Toy Story idea since it would really allow for the most freedom to explore new environments and have sub-stories with each of the characters.

By the way...love the question...this is totally making it onto an upcoming podcast!

I do agree with seeing our favorite characters more. I hope at some point Pixar will release multiple films that we can be looking foward to in the future. Of course if that did happen, our bank accounts would be empty from all of the DVDs and movie tickets.

I would be really thrilled if Pixar made a TV series. However, I would like it all to be original, as I agree with the other comments about wearing out the characters. I think the Toy Story and Cars Toons are enough I need to feel happy about revisiting "old friends".
