If the acquisition is complete, Pixar and the other Disney Studios may be able to broadcast their news more easily, with Disney's latest potential acquisition of Twitter! http://diskingdom.com/2016/09/26/disney-looking-to-buy-twitter/

Wow - that's crazy. The only concern I would have would be the fact that Twitter has always been a company that has had a large user-base, but they have struggled to make money consistently. If Disney can't find a way to make money with it, they would probably end up dumping it in the future...I doubt they'd view it as a loss-leader and keep it solely for the point of leading people to their site because of it.

How would this make things easier for Disney owned companies, exactly? I mean, it's not like it's a closed service, they can use it right now if they wanted to. Does Disney have some kind of weird "No Twitter" rule I don't know of?

Maybe "easier" isn't the right way to say it - it's really that Twitter wants to be stronger in the video delivery space and Disney is eager to find more ways to become independent in video distribution on the internet...and on social channels with the next generation of consumers. Yes, Twitter is an open platform, but Twitter has been hinting for a while that they're looking for more ways to monetize the site. I personally don't get it (at least within the confines of the Twitter I know today), but with the CEO of Twitter being on the Disney board, they certainly have had some discussions that we're not privy to...yet! First of all, this is ridiculous

I really don't want Disney to buy a social network, i mean, im fine if they ever buy a company that sociales movies (Netflix) or something related to comics to help boost Marvel sales, but if they do (like if it ever happen or something), ill support them, i survived the Marvel and Lucasfilm buyings, but Twitter? A site that has been part of our lives since we began to use it 10 years ago?

In conclusion, I'll chose Google in a flash
(This is my opinion, so im not angry)

As Hollywood and cable TV moves digital, Disney has their eyes on two potential acquisitions: Twitter and they now are rumored to possibly buy Netflix for about $45 million.

Crazy! As much as the $45 Million price (industry estimate) tag is insane, I can at least understand Disney wanting to buy Netflix. They're profitable, have great customer satisfaction rankings and as streaming continues to grow, so will their exclusive and original content.

That being said, I also don't see Iger paying $45 Billion. When Disney acquires something they tend to get a great deal and that price tag is way too high for Bob to go for it (at least in my opinion based on the article).

Oh, and I merged the individual topic about Disney buying Netflix with the existing Twitter thread for continuity.

Bizarre turn of events

Like i said earlier, i'll be fine if they ever buy Netflix, but NOW? Look, as a Netflix user, im fine with their decisions, but nothing is as for now confirmed, but if it does go through, it could mean that Disney has control of not only of their Marvel shows, but Netflix itself

Disney already has a deal with Netflix to air new movies from the company, starring with The Finest Hours and Zootopia, which, as of writing, are so far the only new movies there, DreamWorks Animation, their sister company, Illumination, Sony Pictures Animation, and Laika also have their movies air there, so they're not alone there
(and also i have a theory that they did this so people would end their HBO and Starz subs for the sake of their kids, but that's just me)
