I see a lot of the time people thinking that movies such as Big Hero 6, Planes, Bolt and Wreck it Ralph were made by Pixar.

Sometimes people think that Brave was made by Walt Disney Animation Studios.

I remember me doing another topic on this, and yes it really does. One way you can solve this this by telling or showing them the opening logos. [Winking_zps1d9118ce]

It annoys me just a bit. But they are not Pixar fans like us and its not in their best interest to know which movies were made by which company, but for me, it doesn't happen often. Usually, when I ask a person what they're favorite Pixar movie is, they mention a Pixar movie. Only a couple of times have i heard something else.

Something that does fuel my fire for some reason is when people give credit to Disney for Pixar movies. Sure, it is also technically a Disney movie, but Disney didn't make it. Sometimes I encounter comments like "Disney did a great job with this movie" or "I can tell Disney worked their butts off on this". That scenario does bother me more than it should. I mean, Pixar spends usually 4 years working their butts off on a movie, the least thing people can do is credit whoever made the movie.

I must say, I keep forgetting which studio does which film when it comes to the non-Pixar animated films, so I can totally understand why it happens with Pixar...

On the other hand, I'm like Luis504170; I find the confusion of Disney and Pixar very annoying. Especially because it seems to stick even in people with some knowledge of animated films. I think it leads to a lot of very wrong conclusions (like that "every female character has the same face" story which mixes Disney and Pixar altogether).

But then... I must recognize there's a lot of reasons to confuse the two. The Disney logo is prominently featured in all Pixar material; recently Pixar has done a princess movie and Disney a very Pixar-esque one; Pixar was once associated with CG animation, but now Disney is doing that too. I remember I was pretty confused myself when that happened.

I totally understand when people mix up the companies for Wreck-It Ralph and Brave. The two really do seem like movies the other studio would put out.

Other than that...eh, can't say it really annoys me.

It does annoy me...but, like other forum users mentioned, I then remind myself that I talk about this all day so of course I know what is and what isn't a Pixar film. They're probably a much more casual user, therefore I can't fault them. That being said, the one that hurts me the most is Planes!

I know how you feel about Planes! I start talking about Cars, one of my favorite Pixar films, and people say, "Hey, didn't Pixar do that awful movie Planes?" I have to explain to them that that was not Pixar, it was by Disney. But seriously, the highlight of that movie was the line "Ugh, pick-up trucks!"

I quite like Planes (even though it's not Pixar)

Planes is another one I totally understand people messing up on. It's canonically in the Cars universe and came after Pixar cemented they could fail, so that eliminates the possibility of "Can't be Pixar; it's too bad".

One time in school our math teacher had us make a poll for something. I decided to do "What is your favorite Pixar movie" not really putting so much thought into the people that would answer this. As answers, I got mostly Toy Story and a few other Pixar ones, but I also got Shrek, Sleeping Beauty, and even Snow White.
I agree with what other people are saying with Brave. It also doesn't help that all the princess movies nowadays are adjectives, Pixar or not.
I was talking to someone the other day about movies, and they said Finding Nemo was their favorite Disney movie. That actually bugged me, because if it is their favorite "Disney" movie, wouldn't they at least know the studio that made it? I don't understand the confusion, because it the same situation with Marvel. Disney owns Marvel, and there is no confusion there. Although, Disney does not show their logo before Marvel's films. It usually doesn't bother me, though.

I cannot stand when people get them mixed up.

A couple of examples of bad mix-ups from people I know:

My mom always calls Planes "Disney Pixar" but it's only Disney.

Last school year - this was the worst scenario I've ever seen - The Good Dinosaur came out. I was in my 8th grade English class when the co-teacher mentioned something about The Good Dinosaur coming out that day (I don't know why she said it, but she did). Then the class broke into a minute-long debate on if it was Disney or Pixar. Then this is the worst part for me - the main teacher, who used to work at Disney World before becoming an English teacher, and who is a huge fan of all Disney, Pixar and Star Wars movies, said Disney and Pixar are the same. That really bugged me because someone who worked for Disney and is a fan of them just called two totally different Disney companies the same. I was actually surprised people didn't know it was Pixar because there were 2 Good Dinosaur TV Spots during the World Series, which had just ended a couple of weeks before, had one of our local teams (the Mets) in it, so a lot of people probably watched the games.

I strongly disagree with younger me. [Silly_zps7c205e8c]

Yeah, it really irritates me now. Though I don't really see it happen to Pixar often. I see it happen with Dreamworks pretty much every time the company's brought up.
