Pixar Post - T.J.
In a new announcement released today it was revealed that The Good Dinosaur would take the release date of November 25, 2015 (Finding Dory's original release date) and would move Finding Dory to a open-ended summer 2016 release date. Read more details on The Good Dinosaur forum post here.

My second thought when I saw this was about Ellen DeGeneres.

Anyone else seen that video of when she announces it on her show? She seemed so exited and was barely keeping herself together. Not only is this painful for every Disney, Pixar and Finding Nemo fan, it must be even more painful for Ellen, who voices the star.

At least they'll have more time to find a voice match for Nemo [smile]

Yeah, Ellen is certainly super-pumped for this release. It will be interesting to see if she mentions anything about it on her show or not. My guess would be that she wouldn't, but it will be interesting to see.

I agree, Ellen probably won't say anything about the change, but she was so excited for the film, I wish Finding Dory and The Good Dinosaur could have both been released the same day. That would have been great.

BTW, TJ no need to be picky, but you for the title of this post you wrote 2106 instead of 2016. And you wrote 2105 instead of 2015 in your post.

No problem - thanks for the catch and please be as picky as possible - I'd rather have you tell me that there's an error than leave it hanging out there. I was typing way too fast earlier and it obviously showed! Thanks again!

Im not as concerned about the delay on this one. We don't know much about the film anyway so it felt far faraway to begin with. Extra time for Stanton to make it absolutely perfect. more time will do it good, especially since its going to be such a highly anticipated film.

Well, Pixar did had Finding Nemo to be an incredible release about a father and a son relationship. Now, Dory will find her family in this movie as well. I think that, Finding Dory will be funny along with Finding Nemo back in 2003. I think Ellen did say something about the movie but, not the change. Pixar has to put an mystery egg in Inside Out or The good Dinosaur about Dory. I really think that Ellen, would have a fun time as Dory in the sequel to Finding Dory.

I don't think anyone has brought this up before but Finding Dory and DreamWorks' How to Train Your Dragon 3 are both set to release June 17 ,2016. How do you guys think this will work out? One of the studio's will most likely change the release date for one of these films since I don't think Pixar and/or DreamWorks will take the risk to release these highly anticipated sequels on one day. DreamWorks had the spot first, so will Pixar push Dory back/forward?

I think that Pixar should have moved "the good dinosaur" to 2016 instead of finding dory due to audience wize

Wow, great observation! I'm not sure which one will budge, but you're certainly right - they're not going to want to compete with each other. I hate to say it, but if Pixar "played hardball" with the date, Dreamworks would most change their date (in my opinion). Finding Dory is going to be so highly anticipated that other companies are going to work around that one for sure. I'm not saying that HTTYD3 won't be anticipated, but I just think Finding Dory will be more highly anticipated.

I don't think it's a matter of who had it first either - but it will be interesting to see how it plays out...again, this is a great observation!!

I actually tend to agree with this. I think the reasoning probably came down to the fact that they gave TGD one more try...if it doesn't float on it's own by the 2015 date, I bet it's over. I'm also quite fearful for the film's future since we haven't heard anything else at this point. I know Inside Out is next on the docket, but usually we'd get a little more info. We shall see - I guess nothing is standard on this project since it's a rewrite.

Well, I think that it will be good if PIXAR and Dreamworks did sequels on the same day. Same release but, different studios. Haha!! But, Finding Dory would be better and funny. Even though, they did made both stories sad. That's probably why they are doing it on the same day on June 16, 2016.
