It's currently at $574 million in the United States and $424 million internationally, and it still hasn't been released in a bunch of other countries like Japan and Spain.

Pixar Post - T.J.
So awesome - congrats to Brad Bird and the entire Pixar crew! We worked up a post of the details as well as a list of the remaining markets the film is set to open in. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but what do you think - is this going to topple Frozen as the highest grossing animated film of all time? We think it has a really good chance!!

Below are the markets that the film is still set to open in (from today) and the other animated films (with revenue) that have crossed $1B.

Remaining List of International Markets Incredibles 2 is Set to Open:

  • Czech Republic (Aug 2)
  • Spain (Aug 2)
  • Slovakia (Aug 2)
  • Estonia (Aug 3)
  • Lithuania (Aug 3)
  • Latvia (Aug 3)
  • Turkey (Aug 22)
  • Norway (Aug 24)
  • Denmark (Aug 30)
  • Finland (Aug 31)
  • Sweden (Aug 31)
  • Italy (Sept 19)
  • Germany (Sept 27)

Animated Films That Have Surpassed $1 Billion in Global Box Office Revenue (revenue via Box Office Mojo):

  • Frozen - $1,276,480,335
  • Minions - $1,159,398,397
  • Toy Story 3 - $1,066,969,703
  • Despicable Me 3 - $1,034,799,409
  • Finding Dory - $1,028,570,889

I think it's really likely for Incredibles 2 to surpass Frozen as well, and it's pretty much certain at this point that it's going to surpass Finding Dory and Zootopia within about a week or so.

I2 is now at 1.047 billion, which puts on the #4 spot for unadjusted highest grossing animated films, surpassing both Finding Dory and Zootopia.

Incredibles 2 today became the first animated film to reach US$600 million domestically.

In addition, it also claimed today the second-highest grossing animated film globally, passing Minions (2015) and about $130 million less than Frozen (2013) still. It is #1 domestically.

Compared to all films, it is #9 domestically and #17 globally.

Pixar Post - T.J.
This is so great - congratulations to Pixar are certainly in order again! We wrote a post up about the news (including the weekend totals), so they're approximately $110 million away from Frozen now and we looked at Italy and Germany (which the film is still set to open in) and we don't think it can surpass Frozen, unfortunately.

On average (since Toy Story 3), Italy nets $14.2 million per film and Germany nets $17.9 million per film. Adding those two together still puts Incredibles 2 approximately $78 million away from Frozen and we don't think it will have enough steam to pull that from other markets. I'd love to be off about this and hope we are — but that's just what we're thinking based on today.

Let's see how far it can go though! Woohoo! ðŸ˜
