Official plot details were revealed at this year's D23 Expo. After many years of waiting and a few more of speculation, we finally have some details!!

The second Incredibles film will still focus on the family bonds of the Parr family. But now, the tables have turned. Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible will be a stay at home dad watching Jack Jack, while Helen Parr/Elastigirl, is the one going out and doing all the action.

D23 attendes were treated to a scene were Jack Jack displays his powers while fighting a racoon. Mr. Incredible was supposed to be watching him, but fell asleep on the couch.

Not much else has been said, although something interesting that they talked about is that nobody knows about Jack Jack's powers. Very interesting.

Share your thoughts on the new Incredibles 2 plot!!

Ok, I'll go first!!

Was this part of the clip as well? I want to see it so bad [redface]

Also, I'm super excited for Elastigirl to be taking the lead this time around. One of my favorite lines from the first film was "Girls, c'mon, leave the saving-the-world to the men? I don't think so. I don't think so." — though ironically, she becomes a stay at home mom shortly afterwards. Great to see that this rather underdeveloped aspect of her take prominence in the sequel.

Wasn't that from the first film? It's been quite a while since I've seen the old "Disney presents a Pixar film" heading rather than the new "Disney•Pixar" moniker.

Pixar Post - T.J.
Hey gang,

The-Incredibles-2-Concept-Artwork.jpeg

We've been feverishly writing updates to our post about the animation panel breakdown, but since I saw you were looking for a description of the video which was shown, IGN did a great description and even revealed the mysterious raccoon!

Quote:
The premise of the concept is that Bob falls asleep with Jack Jack while watching TV, and Jack Jack notices something outside that pulls his attention. In the work-in-progress clip shows, Jack Jack is watching a program on TV where a robber is stealing from a business, and he notices through their sliding glass door that a raccoon is stealing from their trash can outside. Drawing the connection between the robber's face mask and the raccoon's similar face markings, he starts making angry baby noises at the thieving rodent.

I'm really excited about the idea, but it also got me thinking back to when Brad Bird was working on the script saying he wouldn't do it unless he had a great idea...but then now said that this storyline was pitched back when Teddy Newton was working on the design. Maybe he just needed time to process it and expand it enough to make it workable.

You can read even more from the clip which was shown in the IGN article - then catch up with all the other details in the summary on our post (vocal recastings, high res concept art, etc) - what an event!

Oh, and the official plot details were embedded in the Concept Art Pixar emailed over after the event - it is...

In Incredibles 2, Helen is in the spotlight, while Bob is at home with Violet, Dash and baby Jack-Jack, whose superpowers are still under wraps. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone team up to do what they do best. Featuring the voices of Holly Hunter (Helen), Craig T. Nelson (Bob), Sarah Vowell (Violet), Huck Milner (Dash - new vocal actor) and Samuel L. Jackson (Frozone).

This also confirms our earlier thought that the title is now just Incredibles 2 rather than The Incredibles 2.

Thank you for expanding T.J!

Having Elastigirl take center stage is perfect beacause it's a nice juxtaposition to the first film and honestly her character is so interesting. We know from the first movie that she's extremely dedicated to her life as a mom. But how does her mentality change once she's out, fighting crime or whatever. So excited!!!

The clip sounds perfect, fun and great for plot development. Brad Bird along with Pete Docter I feel is the most consistent with the quality of his films.

Honestly this seems to be the exact same tone/atmosphere as the first Incredibles, and I'm here for it baby! BRING IT ON!!! RIGHT NOW PREFERABLY!! LIKE RIGHT NOW!!!! LIKE ABSOLUTELY NOW OR SO HELP ME I WILL GROUND YOU FOR A MONTH PIXAR!!! GOT IT?!?!

I'm not quite sure. It's been so many years since I've last played that game.

Funny, and I heard some people stating that a sequel focusing on Elastigirl was a bad idea (Disney/Pixar doesn't think so, seeing as this will be the 4th film to focus on the female character and side character of the original film).

I'm just glad that not only the sequel's focusing on Helen (which would help finally establish the Bob/Violet parental relationship that was rather lacking in the first film, and they better have Tony be a major player in this film somehow (and Kari too if they find something for her to do), but they're not aging the entire family like most of Pixar's sequels tend to do (there's still a chance we could get a post-credit scene of a grown-up Parr family that either helps sets up a final installment or just to cap the series for good).
