Inside Out loses Best Original Screenplay to Spotlight and Sanjay's Super Team loses Best Animated Short to Bear Story, but Inside Out wins for Best Animated Feature!! [biggrin]

Pixar Post - T.J.
Wow, you guys were mostly dead on in your predictions but a few awards threw people for some loops in there too. Best Supporting Actor, Mark Rylance was probably the biggest surprise of the night...but Spotlight winning Best Picture also threw many for a loop as well.

So happy for Inside Out and the big win, but as Reptile Patrol said, I am surprised as well that Pixar hasn't won in the short category in over a decade. So weird to think that For The Birds was their last win at the 2002 Oscars. Really?! Wow!

Also, since we haven't mentioned it here yet (details in our post) - how much fun was it that Pete told his family in the Thank you scroll at the bottom of the screen that they're getting a dog?! That would be a very exciting way to hear that news if you were his kids (Nick and Ellie).

Those thank you scrolls were the highlight of my evening xD I tried reading everything that was on that

Yeah, Mark Rylance's win was so unexpected, so was Spotlight winning BP (which means now I have to see it on my Blu-ray this week)

I'm so happy IO won, but I'm sad to see Bear Story and Spotlight winning Animated Short and Original Screenplay

Mad Max's 6 wins, dear heavens, I predicted it for Producion Design, Costume Design, and Makeup and Hairstyling, but I never knew I was right about those three until later on when it won three more :/

Leonardo DiCaprio (finally), Brie Larson, and Alicia Vikander won their acting awards and I couldn't be prouder for them [smile]

And getting 13/23 right made me cry [wink]

(now if next year will be Finding Dory's year)

So happy for Inside Out's win! Not that it's a surprise, but as one of Pixar's best films it really deserves it [smile] And as for next year, I think Finding Dory will be amazing, but I think the best animated feature will be harder to predict than this year's, what with Zootopia and Moana.

Had Inside Out won the Original Screenplay category last night, all else stayed the same, Spotlight would've been the first Best Picture winner to not win anything else. How history would've been made. Just a thought.

I correctly predicted Mark Rylance would win!! [biggrin]

Really surprised with Spotlight winning Best Picture though, I must say.

Bear Story's win was also mildly surprising, though I should have seen it coming, I had a feeling about it that I unfortunately chose to ignore [tongue]

Wasn't really surprised Inside Out won Best Animated Feature, I mean it was the strongest of all the films nominated! I was really surprised about Bear Story's win over Sanjay's Super Team, though. I thought Sanjay's Super Team had a really big chance at winning the Best Animated Short subject, as it was fantastic and one of my favorite short films of all time! But then again, I have yet to see Bear Story, so I should probably check that one out. But I really liked how Buzz Lightyear and Woody presented the Best Animated Feature award, it was a very delightful surprise! I also liked how they honored Daniel Gerson. He was a really talented man. As for next year's Best Animated Feature Oscar, it's going to be really hard to predict, as we will be given three equally brilliant films Zootopia, Finding Dory and Moana. I wonder which of the three will win.
