I think that we can all agree that we're super pump to see Finding Dory this Summer! But what other animated movie of 2016 (and if you only have to choose 1) are you most looking forward to seeing?

For me, it would have to be Storks. I know that it's a little silly to choose a movie when you don't have a whole lot of information to go by of what the whole main premise is going to be about. But from what I got from the first trailer that was released a couple months ago sounded really wonderful. I just really love the idea that it's going to cover on a topic that children have been asking for many generations now despite the fact that Pixar had already done something similar with their 2009 short film Partly Cloudly. I just hope it doesn't rely heavy on dirty diaper jokes. Granted, I won't know till I see more trailers.

Trailer 1 of Storks:

Probably Zootopia for me. Disney is on a roll with their movies, and the trailers and overall marketing campaign is really impressive.

Nothing in the year really seems worth anticipating to me.

I guess I could say Zootopia, more by virtue of being the only one I'm sure I'll actually see than actual excitement.

I´m going to rate every animated film coming out this year in anticipation level.

Zootopia - 10. After seeing the clips they have released of this movie I find myself counting down the days to watch it. The world looks so majestic and creative. The jokes seem clever. Everything I have seen from this movie has made me happy [smile]

Finding Dory - 10. No point in saying why.

Moana - 9/10. The story seems amazing. The islands concept is intriguing and mind-blowing. The concept art is beautiful. I just need a trailer to see if this becomes a 10.

Kung Fu Panda 3 - 6/10. Already came out. The characters are charming and it´s fun seeing the adventures of Po and the rest.

The secret life of pets - 6/10. I´m a bit intrigued. I´ll probably end up watching this. It seems like a fun time at the movie theater.

Angry Birds Movie - 5/10. The trailer wasn´t atrocious thank God. But I still have no desire to watch this. It´s just there. However, if this gets good reviews, I´ll watch it.

Trolls - 1/10. The teaser trailer was cringe worthy with the whole concept of the trolls twerking and dancing to the whip/nae nae. It was horrible seeing Dreamworks sink so low as they try to appeal to audience with the latest horrible social media trends. YEAH IT NEVER WORKS!! STOP DOING THAT!

Ice Age 5: Whatever the hell the subtitle is this time - 2/10. Not interested in this at all. I just gave it a 2 instead of a 1 because Trolls sets the scale for that 1. I love the first Ice Age. Really like the second. Only tolerated the third. And hated the fourth. This concept seems very stupid.

Sing: 6/10. Not going to lie, that teaser was pretty charming. Will only watch if it gets good reviews though.

1) Finding Dory (Pixar)
2) Moana (Disney)
3) April and the Extraordinary World (GKIDS)
4) Zootopia (Disney)
5) Sausage Party (Sony)
6) Kubo and the Two Strings (Laika)
7) Phantom Boy (GKIDS)
8) The Secret Life of Pets (Illumination)
9) Sing (Illumination)
10) Storks (Warner Bros)

Quick, probably totally inaccurate 2017 Oscar predictions for Best Animated Feature (tho how cool would it be if a year later it turns out I was spot on? [biggrin])

1) Finding Dory
2) Moana
3) April and the Extraordinary World
4) Kubo and the Two Strings
5) Zootopia
Alternate: 6) Phantom Boy

Speaking of 2017, I'll add my most anticipated movies for next year as well, for releases that have been announced already [smile]

1) Coco (Pixar)
2) The Breadwinner (Cartoon Saloon/GKIDS)
3) (the other GKIDS movie(s) coming besides The Breadwinner)
4) The Lego Batman Movie (Warner)
5) Cars 3 (Pixar)
6) Despicable Me 3 (Illumination)
7) Ninjago (Warner)

I know it's not animated, but I've been pretty excited about Alice Through the Looking Glass despite the negative reputation of the first film. I enjoyed the first film myself, even though I read the book and grew up on the Disney movie....I didn't think I'd care for it because Alice has been adapted so many times (like Peter Pan) that I get tired of it. But I love the actress who plays Alice for some reason. Not the greatest movie ever, but yeah.

Okay, as for animated movies, I've been getting so excited about Finding Dory ever since new pictures of characters have been surfacing. Destiny has such a pretty design, and Hank looks like he'll be a lovably quirky character and cool sidekick to Dory. And of course Dory herself; I love her and I like Ellen, so it's cool to get to learn more about her.

Next up is Zootopia....every time I look at the colorful cast of characters, hear snippets of what it's about (I'm trying not to spoil myself though so I never watch trailers or delve too much into it), see the jaw dropping scenery and the cuteness of Judy, I get a thrill of excitement.

The Secret Life of Pets looks absolutely adorable! They remind me of my animals [tongue] and I saw the new Funko Pops for it and they're such cool designs for Funkos (kinda like Hank is).

I don't know much about this yet, but from what I've seen they seem cool: Kubo and the Two Strings and Moana.

* Just a heads up that I moved this category from the 2020 Pixar film #2 category to the General Community Category since it's about animated films in general and not that specific one. Wanted to fill everyone in in case you wondered why it moved topics.

Thanks for doing that for me! This was my first time of starting a topic on this part of the website so things started to get very confusing for me of where to correctly post stuff at. Fortunately, I've finally got it all figure out now.

I remember watching the first two Ice Age movies and really enjoying them. Granted, I've never went beyond the second one. Big part of the reason was because I've felt it was completely unnecessary and that it started to look they were trying to make a quick buck out of it. Plus, judging the negative reviews, it's best that I don't.

I tried to get excited for the two new upcoming Disney movies but unfortunately, I just don't have feel for them. Mostly because I'm very old school when it comes to Disney movies.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I'm the opposite way--I'm not into classic Disney animated movies for the most part, but I like their newer ones (Tangled, Wreck-it-Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, etc). Maybe in the Pixar Fandom this isn't as unpopular a sentiment though?

I like new Disney. Zootopia just doesn't sound particularly interesting, and frankly I'm sick of the princesses (and kind of feel like Disney is single handedly creating their own new cliche with super powered princesses. Seriously, counting Vanellope this makes four of them in six years).

Yeah, it's extremely likely the only reason Ice Age as a franchise endures is because it's one of two franchises that actually makes the studio good money. Rio's pretty much taking its place as a cash cow (it made a bit over half of what the Ice Age sequels make), but the other four originals haven't broken 300 million. Even with Blue Sky's lower budgets, they probably wouldn't be doing particularly well without the cash grabs sequels.

/Facts.

Ice Age 5 (and Trolls, for that matter) I'm kind of looking forward to just to read all the negative reviews without actually seeing it (as I've mentioned on another thread). I'd consider seeing it just because it seems weird as heck and visually looks good, but 1. I couldn't even make it through the trailer so I doubt I could make it through the whole movie. 2. no sense in giving your money to something you don't like the existence of.
