(Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong forum.  I wasn't sure where to put this [crazy])

And secondly:

Recently I decided that I needed to learn how to use iMovie.  So I decided to make a montage video.  But what about?  I chose Pixar.

I started it in September and I was just working on it in bursts.  It's half time now and I thought about getting back to it - but it's set to be over 11 minutes long and, frankly, not all that good.  It looks a bit similar to other fan-made montages in places, which isn't that helpful.

So, last week, I simply thought: let's start a new one.  Let's do a shorter one, let's do a music video.  So I made a new video that comes in at just under 5 minutes in length and is, in my humble opinion, much better than my longer one.

So here it is.  Enjoy!

(BTW, my iMovie library glitched out.  All my projects got deleted. That's not saying much admittedly, but it does mean that the incomplete 11-minute long video is all gone.  Luckily, I'd already exported this video out to Theatre so I was able to retrieve it. [biggrin])

Nice work!! I agree (as you said), that it's not all that different from other fan-created videos, but that doesn't mean it's not a good one. It was well thought out, the edits were clean and it flowed (meaning you started broad, honed in a bit, and the closed with the wrap-up "goodbye" scenes from the films). Plus, the song was a good choice (to me at least) since it worked throughout most of the whole video. The only parts that didn't work as much for me were any of the scenes with violence paired with the song (e.g., where Mrs. Incredible punched the security guard).

Nice work honing your editing skills and sorry about the iMovie library - those things stink when they happen and I've definitely had a library crash before.

Thanks for the feedback! [biggrin]

I actually sourced most of my clips from other fan videos on YouTube.  I used a downloader to put these videos into iMovie.  That gave me a massive choice of clips; I could simply select ones I liked and add them in before adjusting them to the length I wanted. I did end up using some other Pixar clips though, I think; specific ones that I had to search up on YouTube.

I'm quite proud of the final cut to be honest.  You may have a point about the whole violence thing - I didn't have enough Incredibles stuff at that point, so I put that in there.  My favourite part is either WALL-E putting his hand in the stars, the very ending or when Merida shoots the arrow.

Yeah, it stinks when you have a glitch like that.  NVM, I didn't really lose anything too important.

Very nice! I agree with you about WALL-E's hand in the stars being a nice clip; such a beautiful movie. My favorite clip you used is Ellie's hand on Carl's cheek, if that scene doesn't tear at someone's heart they need to check for a pulse. Thank you for sharing.
