Ive been anticipating this film since 2011 when it was officially announced (who knows how long its actually been in the works.. gotta be since 09 at least.) But out of the 3 or 4 upcoming films from Pixar, this is one im truly excited for the most. and I'll tell you why.

It seems like, at least from what i've noticed, that the first few Pixar films all had something in common that grabbed people into them. And hopefully this same aspect will grab people back to only recognizing Pixar as great, (and to just debunk the whole Cars 2 fiasco)

From what i've noticed, Toy Story, A Bug's Life, and Monsters Inc. have this certain theme in them that is quite intriguing. This is a "What if...?" quality. What if your toys came alive when you left the room? What if bug's had a whole civilization with a sense of class ranking? What if monsters needed to scare children and just what are they doing in your closet?

Okay, so obviously The Good Dinosaur seems to have a "What if...?" aspect to it, but the "What if...?" of Inside Out seems like the flip-things-around-and-shake-them-until-you-don't-know-if-its-real-or-not Pixar was really good and creative with.

Anybody have any other thoughts on this?

Nice points bunfoo. That is a very good point. Nice thinking. I am also very excited for Inside Out, since Pete Docter is directing. Before Up came out my favorite film was Monsters Inc., then as the it played out the next Pete Docter film became my favorite of all time. I hope Inside Out becomes at least one of my favorites. Also, another hilarious Dug-like character would be great in Inside Out.

if the emotions are characters, maybe a "forgetfullness" "humor" or "stupidity" character will act like Dug.. i personally see a "Stress" character being hilarious.

I think Good Dinosaur will bring back the Pixar perfection (no flaws, multiple Oscar noms) but Inside Out, Muertos will continue it

Am I the only one who thinks they haven't declined any? Sure, Cars 2 wasn't INCREDIBLE but it was still a better than average film I'd say. Brave got criticized because it wasn't really an original idea but it was a great film and picked up an Oscar. Before Cars 2, Toy Story 3 was phenomenal and after Brave, MU was also fantastic.

I think people will get off their backs after Good Dinosaur is released since it's an original idea.

D0hhhboy, that is a good theory, but The Good Dinosaur is kinda based off a book I had when I was younger. It was called "When Dinosaurs Came to Town." It was more of an information book but this picture book had pictures of dinosaurs nesting in a boy's bed, dinosaurs tearing up a trashed car in the dump, and so forth. This may be an invalid argument because we found this book in a small gift shop in Vernal, Utah.

And I agree completely D0hhhboy! I don't think they have declined at all! Cars 2 was great. Brave is amazing and got me into Gaelic culture and my heritage. And MU was brilliant and had me considering college and loving the new characters! Not many people know about the book, so I think that it is irrelevant.

I love the idea of the emotions being characters - that would be great. We could assume there is some of this based on the concept art that we've seen (below). Either way, I completely agree - stress characters are always funny because we can relate to them...like the stressed out, coffee drinking, monster walking in to take the finals in Monsters U

I also agree with some of the others that The Good Dinosaur will get the general population back on track with Pixar, but I do agree that the over-the-top originality and relate-ability of Inside Out sounds so original, I bet it will be another massive success. Obviously all speculation at this point from our standpoint, but I'm excited for this one too.

I'd be interested to see if anyone else has any thoughts on this - I looked the book up on Amazon "If Dinosaurs Came to Town" and it does have some (though not all) similarities. Start up a post in The Good Dinosaur thread and see what people think!

Gosh where do I start with all of my thoughts on this subject?

I tend to agree with d0hhhboy on this one. In general the Cars franchise is not my favorite of the Pixar collection but I have to respectfully disagree with those out there that feel since Cars 2 started some kind of "decline" for Pixar.
In general, I feel that live-action and animated films today are mostly unoriginal as you can really find similar story lines and characters in almost every single book or movie out there. It's all about the story and character development and in my opinion the folks at Pixar are pretty flawless when it comes to this.

Inside Out is the next Feature that I'm really looking forward to!

It's kind of crazy that we were just talking about the emotions as characters...Pete Docter just talked about this at SIGGRAPH and we wanted to start a new thread to chat about the potential of his comments regarding the characters and the story line...check it out here.

This is what Inside Out will be like

By the way, I got it from this website

Riley is an 11-year-old girl who moves from the Midwestern United States all the way to San Francisco, California, where her father gets a new job. Riley is somewhat guided only by her emotions, named Joy, Fear, Disgust, Sadness, and Anger. Inside Riley's brain, the five emotions live in the control center, known simply as "Headquarters". However, as Riley tries to make her life comfortable in Frisco, chaos starts in Headquarters. How will the emotions ever try to fix Riley's life?

Some kids might find this topic to be hard to understand or come across, but it sounds like a pretty interesting film!

The film will be released on June 19, 2015, and will have the voice talents of Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader, and Phyllis Smith.
