Pixar Post - T.J.
I know we already have the spoiler-free movie review section, but this is where you can share details from the film without any worry of spoilers. Our full video spoiler review we held like last night (June 23) is pasted below where we talk about the characters, the plot, the easter eggs, our favorite moments, and more.

So, now that we've also seen the films — what is your order for the films? It's really hard to rate them, but I still think that my order would go Toy Story 2, Toy Story, Toy Story 3, and then Toy Story 4. I wonder if I'll feel different after it comes out at home and I can digest it even more, but I just can't rate it higher because of Woody splitting from the gang. I know it was what was best for him and what can happen in real life, but sometimes you just don't want realism in movies and you want the fairy tale to live on! 😢

I agree with your reasons for not ranking Toy Story 4 higher, and honestly, I feel really torn about the ending. I don't want Woody to leave his friends and stop being played with. They're a family, and families stick together, through the good and the bad. I know, though, in the end it was Woody's choice and he seems happy with it, and the other toys seem at peace with it as well...perhaps toys cope better with some aspects of life than people do?

I had this out-there idea though (fanfiction, really), that Andy really is the author of the Toy Story stories, and are the product of his rich imagination of what he supposed the toys were doing when he left the room (a la the original Pixar concept of Toy Story), and that in the end, despite all the outrageous adventures, the toys would eventually land back in Andy's possession in some way. It's an out-there idea, but it helps me cope with the idea that they're all together again, haha.

A lot of people were kind of bugged with how Bonnie treated Woody throughout the story (actually, never really paid him any attention or mind, now that I think on it). It really bugged me, too, because it seemed really inconsistent with her treatment of him in TS3. And how Andy explained how important he was to him. I understand that children have their favorite toys and play differently...but still. 🙁

That said, the story was still really solid for me, and it was such a fun, funny film! I really enjoyed laughing during a Pixar movie again.

My order for the films would be:
1.) Toy Story 1
2.) Toy Story 2
3.) Toy Story 4
4.) Toy Story 3

My brother and I enjoyed prepping for the film by watching all of them in order, as well as all the shorts. The shorts were a lot funnier than I remembered them being the first times I saw them. 🙂

I'm just so glad for all of this wonderful Toy Story romp!

You beat me to it! I intended to create this thread over the weekend but got lazy haha.
So...first of all, I'll start off with the ending. Boy, was that emotional. I thought it was great because it fit in with the plot and just seemed right. (Kinda figured that this would be the case because of that.) But it's so hard to come to accept that Woody and the gang aren't together anymore. But now that I think of it, I'm not really sure how alternate endings others in the chat have suggested over last night's live discussion would work out (given that this is Woody's story), and I think the writers made the current ending as presented in the film work really well.

Also, it was so hard seeing Woody lose his voice box to Gabby Gabby. Although I cried tears of joy as the lost girl at the carnival picked her up and accepted her, I'm still pretty sad Woody's iconic pull string is gone.

There isn't anything else of the plot I really want to delve into at the moment, but that mid-credits scene with Ducky and Bunny's extreme plush rush totally had me dying.🤣 I love the animation of the carnival booth owner (Axel the Carnie) running away as they blew up to giant size and Bunny shot laser beams from his eyes.

Forky had me constantly laughing. Nice to see Woody in a fatherly role with him and Forky's naivety and innocence mirroring that of a child's. (Bbbbbbo!😂)

Last but certainly not least, Jessie taking on a huge leadership role throughout the movie was awesome. I've mentioned before that Jessie means the world to me, and seeing her not only being resourceful and intelligent in the RV but ultimately being put in such a position in the ending as Woody gave her his badge was so amazing. (That's not to say I didn't cry my eyes out for Woody's parting.) Moreover, Bo and Jessie's hug warmed my heart so deeply as I didn't expect them to hint being close at Andy's.

That's about all I have to say--for now. From here on out, I'll be gladly and attentively following along with Pixar's upcoming originals!
