Pixar has a lot of interesting stuff left on the cutting room floor, so we might as well discuss it.

To that end, what scrapped ideas/characters/places/scenes/etc. interest you? Which ones do you think they should have used? Which ones did you not like and are happy they left behind?

I personally am happy they didn't use the origninal A Bug's Life draft where Flik was with the circus. I'm not sure why, I just didn't enjoy the pitch on the DVD. Similarly, I'm happy the aged Boo down and changed the plot to reflect that.

I wish they'd gone with the original plan to make WALL-E dialogue-less throughout.

And I find their idea to have Carl fly his house using a giant inflatable bowling ball from a "disco bowl" hilarious, but think it probably would have looked really stupid, and we would have missed some cool shots if he used it, so I'm totally on board with their decision to cut it.

Back when Pixar and Disney were fighting like a married couple, Circle 7 Animation was around. They had their own plans of what Toy Story 3 was going to be. Buzz getting broken and getting shipped to Japan to get repaired and have the toys find out that he is actually going to be replaced and destroyed. The Toys then travel to Japan to get him back. I actually always wanted to see what that would've ended up like. But I'm beyond happy with the Toy Story 3 we have right now and it was made by the rightful animation company.

Also, Monsters Inc was supposed to be totally different movie, even Sulley would be named Johnson and look different. I forgot the original story, but that is I wanted to because it does not sound as sophisticated, clever and original as the version we see today.

Up, Carl was originally aiming to go to heaven with his wife instead of South America, that would indicate that the events were going to be much different and I'm kinda curious as to how it would've turned out. Up is still my favorite Pixar movie and it's perfect the way it is right now. But I'm a very open-minded person, and I would love to know more about what we would've seen. An idea that was forgotten for Up that I'm very happy it was. The first 5 emotional minutes of Up actually consisted of Ellie and Carl punching each other, not sure how that would've turned out. LOL

But hands down, the movie that im so glad they changed was Wall-E. They were supposed to go to a place in outer space were there was a queen and king alien blobs. And instead of the best animated couple being surrounded by fat humans and commercialism, they were surrounded by Alien blobs that spoke a very different language. That idea sounds very unappealing and I'm glad that we have the masterpiece of today.

Can you really picture Wall-E and Eve with this?

I find it so cool how many different times and different ways the Pixar movies we've enjoyed so much could have been like, from new characters we never got to meet to places the protagonists where never suppose to go! Here are some things the filmmakers didn't include in the original movies today.

Toy Story

Billy Crystal as Buzz: Did you know that Billy Crystal was originally supposed to voice Buzz Lightyear? Apparently, there is an animation test with Buzz in which Billy Crystal is voicing him, and it just goes to show how Toy Story could have been like. Well, I personally think that Tim Allen is a great fit for Buzz, and Billy Crystal is just a fine role for Mike Wasowski. Here's the animation test below.

Characters: Besides the unhappy and mean Woody, all the other toys were all pretty cruel too (And you can see that in the video below). As for Buzz Lightyear, he was supposedly called Lunar Larry and in the animation test you can see how his suit design used to look like. What a big comparison from then and now!

Finding Nemo

A flashback beginning: Originally, when Coral died in the beginning of the film it was suppose to be a flashback. But the people at Pixar wanted to show the audience where Marlin got his overprotective nature from, thus leading to the beginning of the movie you know today.

Inside Out

There's a lot of things left out of Inside Out that the film makers thought of putting into the movie. The Secrets Vault is one of them, as with a few more imaginary friends and a school play Riley was supposed to be in. Here is the thread that discuss the deleted scenes, settings, and characters.

This is all I can think of from the back of my head for now. But if I find out some more details, I'll be quick to post them. [wink]
