I saw it yesterday, finally! [biggrin]

I loved it! The credits scene was hillarious, especially the bus driver's emotions.

Did anyone else cry whilst watching it? [tongue]

SPOILER ALERT!

Boy, was I close to crying, BeanoMaster! When Bing Bong lost his rocket and realized Riley was letting him go, that really hit me. Riley was letting her childhood goofiness and innocence go, and doing so meant letting Bing Bong go, and that really broke my heart. And when Joy was in the memory dump and hugging the memories and then hugging herself, and then when Bing Bong faded away, that was just... Wow, super emotional, super powerful. And the music was so amazing and it capture the feelings throughout the movie so well! Michael Giacchino did an amazing job. [smile]

And yes, the emotions of other people during the credits was hilarious! The bus driver, the teacher, the girl from the pizza place, the emotions of everyone were all so funny! XD

I'm not trying to advertise my blog, but I basically covered my thoughts on the movie here, let me know what you think of my thoughts in the comments or in this topic.

I gave it a 6/10. I was pretty underwhelmed by the plot when I saw the first trailer. Too similar to Brain Divided. Movie was a little complex, so I will have to watch it again. I thought Bing Bong was weird looking and I just could not connect to him at all. Overall great movie, but to me it lacked somewhat in the fun factor.

Really? I thought that this film was spectacular- in visuals, story, voice casting- it was all pretty great! Additionally, the first official trailer was more for laughs; it wasn't really released to showcase the plot, and let's not forget the fact that the second official trailer really showed what the problem was and what the movie would be about.

Another thing (As I read in another thread) is that the people behind the making of both productions weren't even aware of how similar the features were to each other. And since it took Docter such a long time to bring the film to life, it gave the creators of "Brain Divided" to come up with, design, and animate an idea very similar to the movie. So technically, Pete came up with the idea first, even though "Brain Divided" managed to release it before Pixar did.

Of course the feature was complex too! That's one of the reasons I like this film. It manages to mix brainy intellect and enjoyable entertainment into something fun and very simple for the audience to stomach, even though it may take a few views to fully comprehend all the places and things going on in Headquarters and Riley's mind. But the best part is, though they may not understand the purpose of all the places in Riley's head, it doesn't take away the enjoyment or fun of the movie, so there's no harm done really.

As for Bing Bong, I remember looking at a released image of him on Stitch Kingdom and thought he looked creepy. But after seeing him in motion, I remember thinking that he actually looked great, especially since he's an imaginary friend. I think the job was done well, very well indeed when they designed Bing Bong. [smile]

I thought I'll share my Facebook post here since it is somewhat related to Inside Out:

While I liked Inside Out, one thing that irked me was the hate shown towards Broccoli. Not only are they nutritious (and delicious), they are also one of the most magical things on earth. They are exotic. We get Cauliflower in India but it's definitely not the same thing. You break a Broccoli, what you get more broccoli of the same shape. You can keep dividing and you will only end up with more of that same fractal shape. What's more Broccoli may be a small vegetable but it has the appearance of a Tree. Imagine yourself as a Monster eating Trees.
It's disappointing to see this amazing vegetable be subjected to hate. What kind of a human mind would find a Green and Healthy vegetable 'Disgusting'?

There was no hate show toward broccoli overall- the movie only showed how much Riley hated broccoli. When they put this in the movie, I'm sure they didn't mean to insult anybody by it. Besides, disliking a certain food or veggie doesn't make you any less human.

Honestly Karthik, like what Peace_Love_Pixar said I don't think they meant to offend anyone, and lots of kids hate broccoli, and I think the Pixar guys thought it would be relatable that Riley hated broccoli, because other kids hate it.

I can totally vouch for kids not liking broccoli right off the bat. It's one of those tastes that kids have to acquire since it's not a simple taste and is very powerful to their simplified palates (at least in America this is very common). Like most things in movies, it's just there to tell a joke...but that's why they had to change it to green peppers in some countries release of the movie (since kids in those cultures eat a lot of broccoli).

In general, American's eat pretty poorly so it wouldn't surprise me that a veggie became a joke. No biggie though.

I've liked broccoli since I was a kid, and even I don't think it's a big deal that Inside Out made fun of it. Even if it wasn't already a food with a generally bad reputation (it is),Riley also dislikes food with much less of a bad reputation (Hawaiian pizza).

And I'm pretty sure there's an interview floating around somewhere that says Docter likes broccoli, too.
