Pixar Post - T.J.
Such a great trailer! Here's a write up for the trailer post that we put together. We'll also be working up a post with even more high-res photos that were released as well - stay tuned!

Oh, and I almost forgot - we're having a live Google hangout this evening to chat about the trailer! Be sure to join us (details below).

Luckily for many, the film will be hitting theaters in less than two months on November 25, 2015. What are your thoughts on the latest trailer? Join is in a live on-air Google Hangout tonight (October 6 at 10:00 PM EST / 7:00 PM PST) to discuss the trailer. You can watch directly on Google+, on YouTube or by watching in the embedded stream below. We want your feedback as well - while watching along you can email us your comments/questions, write to us on Twitter, comment directly on YouTube or through Google+.

Yes, finally the trailer's here! [biggrin]

I love the new footage, and finally some other characters! But I gotta say, I am a bit disappointed. The only thing that really stood out to me was when Arlo abandoned Spot, probably because it looks so emotional. And darn, I don't like Shaman's character either. "I name him I keep him". "Killer. Violent. Lunatic." Oh ha ha, that's 'funny'! Actually no, it wasn't, and it didn't click for me. Honestly, I feel like this Triceratops is kind of a blow to story.

In addition to that, I'm getting a tad used to Poppa's face and that part when Spot zooms through the clouds (Looked kind of weird the first time I saw it), though I still am strongly against Spot being an actual dog. I'm not a fan.

Well, on a positive note, I liked the rest of the trailer. And I loved that part when all the little mole/weasels started climbing Arlo and he starts freaking out. That was hilarious! XD I guess the most that's bothering me is Shaman; oh boy, I seriously don't like that character.

Now that I've let it sink in, my thoughts:

Initially I was a tad disappointed, probably because I hyped myself too much (unfortunately I do that sometimes), and because so much of it was previously seen in the plethora of TV spots and such, but it was also exciting to see these little scenes all stitched together in a trailer.

However, I ended up loving it because now I find myself rewatching it every once in a while. The new scenes that stood out is where Spot was abandoned — that felt pretty powerful — and where Arlo is attacked by the flying dinosaur (sorry don't know the scientific name lol). Overall it's pretty great, though not as big as the first two (the teasers are always pretty good, cuz they're teasers, but the second one, that's my favorite).

Shaman turned out not to be what I thought he'd be. I had originally pictured a really wise and mystical dinosaur but here he just seems like a lunatic himself. I wonder what kind of story role he'd play though, because I can't imagine them making this character just for laughs.

Overall, great trailer, though I think I still prefer the second one (judged based on just the quality as a trailer, not taking in the fact that I'm hungrily devouring the new footage from the newer one). When you think about some of the scenes, especially where Spot is abandoned, the flying dinosaur chase/attack, and all the teasing of the reportedly (according to those who went to D23 at least) super emotional scene on the beach, it looks like hopefully The Good Dinosaur will be pretty good when it hits theaters next month!

Just so you guys now, it turns out Shaman's name is actually Forrest Woodbush. I only just found out myself.
I liked the trailer! Loving Sam Elliot's voice work.
Also, I have to smile at the little fuzzy guys that popped out of the ground. Even though I think it's clear they were designed to sell plushes, I think they are great. Can't wait to buy their plush, haha! I am craving to know who animated that shot of them moving towards Arlo. One person? Multiple people? How hard was it? It looked pretty difficult. I want to mention that one of them was stuck on it's back, waggling it's feet. Adorable!
Did anyone else think they heard Finding Nemo music when Spot and that snake-thing were fighting?

Peace_Love_Pixar, why did you think it wasn't funny? I don't have a problem with it, but I think I get where you're coming from. Was it just the use of the words "killer, violent, lunatic"?

I like that they want to go the "feathers" route, but I don't really like the designs on these guys. I like that they will be a cool threat, though.

Actually I didn't find it funny as well, but it did seem really lighthearted and a bit whimsical, definitely a different tone than the last trailer, which felt like it was showcasing beauty and wonder for an older audience. However I must admit that I did chuckle at Arlo's "why you little!" when it first appeared in one of those TV spots.

Love the new image - I'm glad they didn't just copy the iconic velociraptors from Jurassic Park and decided to go with something different instead.

Yeah, me too. It wasn't what I thought it be, and most of it was already released, but I guess I'm glad we have it in the first place, even though it wasn't all it cracked up to be.

Really? Well, though I don't find myself really loving the new trailer, it's ok for me. And I gotta agree, I think my favorite is the first official trailer. [smile]

By the way, I think the scientific name is Pterodactyls. [tongue]

Right! I thought Shaman (Or Forrest Woodbush, as we should now call him) was gonna be like a Rafiki kind of character, so I was caught by surprise and kind of thought it was so weird when Forrest was a crazy dinosaur. Man! They could have had fun with that character, but they just made him somewhat a violent maniac, and oh, how fun that'll be! (Sarcasm)

Though I gotta say, I think they made this character more to introduce Spot as an important person/dog in the story, cause you know, that's how he got his name and showed how he looked like Arlo's pet. Of course, if they made him for laughs, well, I'm not sure if it's working... [frown]

Well, I'm having a few doubts now unfortunately, but hopefully more TV spots, advertisements, and maybe even another trailer will cause me to change my mind. [wink]

Well, I guess, but it was also the fact that one of the first thing he says is how if Spot responds, he gets to keep him and he's just so... demanding and kind of annoying. Not exactly annoying, but more like... ugh, I'm not saying this right! XD

It's just the way they try getting laughs by making weird reactions to the names he tries applying to Spot, and it's just so strange. I mean, they could have tried something else! Maybe "Bob", "Bill", "George", and then out of nowhere, "Bartholomew!" Then Spot looks up, Forrest would just "Ah-ha!" while he walks over to the dinosaurs only to say "Aww..." (Like he's disappointed but not so disappointed) as he sees him sit down next to Arlo. Then Arlo would blurt "Spot!" and Spot would look at him with a smile on his face, maybe panting (Given the circumstances [tongue]) I mean, honestly I'm not sure if it would've been that funny, but I feel it would have been maybe just a tad better than what he said.
Well nonetheless, I don't like this Forrest guy, and anyway, good thing you see where I'm coming from, I'm not sure if I could have explained it any better. [wink]

Well, it is pretty creative, but I'm not sure if I like it either.... [frown] (Though I do appreciate that they might be bad guys and they have feathers; that's pretty cool. [smile])

Perhaps the actual naming scene in the movie will be longer (and maybe make more sense?) since they often put shortened versions in the trailers (like with Inside Out when Joy and Sadness first have their little accident).

Woah woah woah, so much new footage to take in! Those were amazing! The music was a bit weird but I love all the new and extended scenes, especially the longer look at the river scene and our first look at the farm.

Hi everyone!

So, I'm waaaay too anxious to not watch all of the international trailers! So the brazilian and spanish trailer show a lot more. Why do you think that is? I wonder if it is because the movie only premiers in January (at least in brazil) they wanted to show more and get people more interested? I dunno.

So, is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that this scene is mirrored? Arlo was on the right originally, not on the left...Any thoughts?

They always show a lot more in international trailers than the domestic trailer. I don't think there is a reason, I think that's just traditionally how they do it.
I also wouldn't think about the mirrored shot too much, they do that all the time in trailers. Maybe just to make the audience feel like they aren't watching the same thing over and over?
But the version where Arlo is on the right is how it will be in the movie, as Butch's scar is on that side of his face in other media.
